Louis John Numi

Louis John Numi, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:40 A.M., Thursday, December 25, 2003 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Louis was a retired stockbroker. He was in the grocery business with his brother Angelo from his discharge from military service until 1955. He was a stockbroker from 1956 until his retirement in 1986, last working for A.G. Edwards. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin, Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree. He was a life member of Du Quoin VFW Post 513 and a member of Du Quoin Roy Mitchell American Legion Post 647. He was a member of the Italian Lodge Benevolent Society and the Perry County Senior Citizens.
Louis was a US Army and Air Force veteran of W.W. II.
He was born June 11, 1920 at Du Quoin, Il the son of John and Paolina (Noe) Numi.
He married Jewell N. Cox on July 4, 1953 at Herrin, Il and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, sisters-in-law- Ruby Numi of Du Quoin, Stella Cox of Herrin, Mary Cox of Coldwater, MI, niece- Jeanie Bathon, nephews- John Numi, Paul Numi and Joe Numi, Doug Cox, David Cox, Dan Cox and Jim Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Angelo Numi.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 29, 2003 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Msgr. Harry Jerome officiating.
Friends called from 8 to 9:30 A.M. Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. The Rosary was prayed at 9:30 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Du Quoin VFW Post 513.
